Hawaii brokers and producers licensed before 1/1/2012 must complete a 4 hour annuity course no later than 1/31/2012. Those licensed after that 1/31/2012 must complete the course prior to selling, soliciting or negotiating
Hawaii adopted the NAIC Suitability in Annuity Transactions Model Regulation recommendation. This Model Regulation set national standards and procedures for suitable annuity recommendations and requires insurers to establish a system to supervise recommendations so that the insurance needs and financial objectives of consumers are appropriately addressed.
